A Minneapolis staffing service orders 500 generic copies of Staffing Decisions on a pay-as-you-go basis for the Twin Cities Metro Area (one Market Area). Total cost per issue: $375 ($200 for the Market Area, 35¢ apiece for the 500 copies)

Custom version, pay-as-you-go

A San Francisco staffing service orders 1,000 copies of Staffing Decisions for the Bay Area on a pay-as-you-go basis, with a custom front page that will have two photos (the owner and the Employee of the Quarter) along with two articles. The firm also wants a PDF version of its newsletter to post on its Web site so customers can download a copy. A Pierre, SD, staffing service orders 200 generic copies for its market -- the entire state -- and prepays four issues to save money. Total cost for four issues: $810 ($200 for the Market Area; $70 for the copies, or $270; multiplied by 3 issues (the fourth is free).
